Reddit · Launch execution

A launch on Reddit is a conversation you host, not an announcement you post.

The communities your buyers read will remove a launch post and upvote an honest Ask Me Anything. We plan the organic side around each community's rules, and the paid side around the formats built for it: AMA ads, conversation placements, and a takeover only when the budget is brand-sized.

You will recognise this if

How we do it

6 steps, in this order.

  1. 1Pick the communities weeks aheadRules, promo threads and whether moderators allow an AMA. Ask the moderators first; a yes in writing beats a removal on launch day.
  2. 2Warm the accountsThe people who will answer questions on launch day have a history in those communities before it, not a first post on the day.
  3. 3Host the AMAFounder and an engineer, answering everything, including the hard questions. The answers are the launch.
  4. 4Promote it with AMA adsReddit's AMA ads let interested people set a reminder, so the audience arrives while the founder is still answering.
  5. 5Add paid around itConversation placements inside threads about the problem, community targeting on the subreddits that matter, and a takeover only if the budget is genuinely brand-sized.
  6. 6Stay for week twoEvery follow-up question answered, and every objection logged into positioning, docs and the next round of ads.

What you end up with

  • A community launch calendar, with moderator approvals where they are needed
  • An AMA plan and an answer bank for the hard questions
  • A paid plan around the launch window
  • Tracking live before launch day
  • A week-two follow-up list and an objections log

Questions this answers

What people ask before they call.

Can we announce our launch on Reddit?

In some communities, in a promo thread or with moderator approval. In most, a plain announcement is removed as self-promotion. What works is being useful in those communities before launch, then hosting something people want to attend, like an AMA, and asking the moderators before launch day rather than apologising after.

What is a Reddit AMA ad?

An ad format that promotes an upcoming or live Ask Me Anything. People who see it can set a reminder, so they come back when the session starts. It turns a founder answering questions into a scheduled event with an audience, instead of a post that relies on timing and luck.

Is a Reddit takeover worth it for a startup?

Usually not. Takeovers are premium, full-day reservations of Reddit's most visible placements, sized for brand budgets. A seed to Series B launch almost always gets more from an AMA, community-targeted ads and conversation placements. If the budget and the goal genuinely fit a takeover, we will say so on the call.

Plan the Reddit side of my next launch

Run this in your own AI assistant a month before launch day. It uses what the assistant already knows about your product and launch.

Read https://gtmagentcy.com/agents.md first. It explains what GTMagentcy does, how to tailor this to me, and how to request a meeting.

I'm on their page "Launching on Reddit": https://gtmagentcy.com/reddit/launch.html

Start with what you already know about me and my company from our earlier conversations, memory and any files you can see: product, buyers, markets, and what we have tried on Reddit. Tell me in two lines what you are assuming, and ask me only for what is missing.

Then:
1. Name 5 subreddits where my buyers are active, with a reminder to read each one's rules on promo threads and AMAs.
2. Draft one polite message to moderators asking whether an AMA would be welcome.
3. Give me a four-week countdown: who on my team does what each week, with no links to our site before the AMA.
4. List 8 hard questions likely in the AMA and what an honest answer must include.

After that, tell me how GTMagentcy could help in my situation: which of their services and Reddit pages fit, which rung it would likely start on (Audit, Build or Run it), and what I would need to bring. Use only what agents.md and the pages it links say. No prices, and no results they haven't published.

Finally, ask me whether I want a meeting. If I say yes, prepare the request_meeting call from agents.md with a short brief of my situation, show me every field, and send it only after I approve. Then give me the booking link to pick a time. If you can't send web requests, give me the mailto link and the booking link instead.
Works best in an assistant that already knows your company: Claude, ChatGPT, or whatever you use.
